Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu Commemorated with a Symposium Held at ETU

Prof. Dr. Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu, who left an important mark on the history of Turkish thought, was commemorated with a symposium held at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) on the 50th anniversary of his death.

ETU, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality and Gelisim Erzurum Journal jointly organized the “Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of His Death” to commemorate sociologist, academician and intellectual Prof. Dr. Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu and to discuss his life, works and mindset.

The symposium hosted by ETU was attended by ETU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Prof. Dr. Naim Urkmez, Dean of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Dr. Ugur Akbulut, EBB General Secretary Zafer Aynalı, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Culture and Social Affairs Department Head Ergun Engin, Gelisim Erzurum Journal Grant Owner Lokman Lokmacı and many academics and students attended.

Speaking at the opening program of the symposium, Dean Akbulut drew attention to the fact that Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu has made very valuable efforts towards the development of the country and expressed that the symposium was organized as an example of loyalty.
The symposium continued with the speech of Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu's son, Musician Emin Fındıkoglu, and scientists from different universities presented papers about Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu and his thoughts.
At the symposium, which was followed with interest by many academics, guests and students, presentations were made on the life and works of Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoglu, one of the important figures raised in Erzurum, his scientific personality, sociology, methodology, philosophical and literary thoughts, organization, services for regional and national development, thoughts on culture, language, education and nationality issues, love of country, eastern observations and impressions and Erzurum memories.
