Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Participated in IDEF 2025 – 17th International Defense Industry Fair

Erzurum Technical University (ETU) participated in the IDEF 2025 – 17th International Defense Industry Fair, one of the world's leading defense industry events, held at the Istanbul Fair Center between 22-27 July 2025.

Hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industries and organized by KFA A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, IDEF 2025 brought together domestic and foreign companies operating in the field of defense technologies, government officials, academics, and industry professionals, providing an important platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing at national and international levels.

At the fair, where leading Turkish defense companies such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, STM, TEI, FNSS, TÜBİTAK SAGE, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, MAKEL, NANOGRAPHY, ERMAKSAN, and TUSAŞ showcased their latest products, the latest technologies were showcased in a wide range of areas, from land, air, sea, and cybersecurity systems to autonomous technologies. Innovative systems such as the National Fast Attack Craft (FAC) developed by STM and the TAYFUN BLOK-4, Türkiye's longest-range ballistic missile developed by ROKETSAN, attracted considerable attention.

Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, representing ETÜ, attended the fair. He met with numerous defense industry organizations and technology companies during the fair, discussing university-industry collaborations, R&D activities, and potential academic collaborations. During his visit, Rector Çakmak was accompanied by ETÜ graduates currently working in various defense industry companies, who had the opportunity to share their post-graduation career paths and industry experiences.

Commenting on the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak stated that IDEF 2025 is more than just a trade fair; it's a strategic organization that reflects Turkey's defense vision and promotes domestic and national technologies in the international arena. He said,
“As Erzurum Technical University, we attach great importance to utilizing our knowledge in technology and engineering in line with our country's needs. IDEF 2025 was a valuable opportunity for us to evaluate potential collaborations between the defense industry and our university and to lay the groundwork for new projects. During the fair, we held meetings with numerous companies and institutions to discuss how we can contribute in areas such as R&D and the development of qualified human resources. Our priorities include connecting our university's research potential with industry, developing projects that integrate our academic staff into the defense industry, and providing our students with opportunities in this field. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all stakeholders who contributed to the realization of such an important event.”
