The 1st Stem Days organized by Erzurum Technical University (ETU) MUCITPARK Science and Idea Workshop ended.
At the event held at MNG Shopping and Life Center on June 3-4, children and their families had the opportunity to experience different workshop activities from wood, virtual reality, robotic software to 3D modeling, video game production, humanoid robot and autonomous device production.
Speaking about the first Stem Days, MUCITPARK Science and Idea Workshop Coordinator Lecturer Ali Necip Nursoy stated that the event was organized to raise awareness in different branches of science for children from all age groups: “Our event consists of 3 sub-activities. In the first stage, 650 students demonstrated their skills in the fields of Lego, Arduino, Mini Computer Game, Coding and 3D Modeling during the competition stage, and 345 of our students advanced to the semi-finals. At this stage, they came together with experts in their fields and received various trainings. Today, in the final of our competition, 76 of our students are fighting for the first place in their fields.”
Following the event from the first day, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak stated that nearly 10 thousand visitors visited the stands in two days: “During the 1st Stem Days, our children had a pleasant time while learning and witnessing the fun side of science in 12 different experimental stands. In addition, our unmanned aerial vehicles, which were developed by our students and made it to the finals in TEKNOFEST competitions, also attracted a lot of attention. I believe that they will develop innovative and technological products like their brothers and sisters in the future and they will remember their experiences here today. The smile and happiness on their faces took away all our tiredness. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our team who contributed to the organization of our event.”
