Erzurum Technical University (ETU) President Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak published a message on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day. In his message Çakmak has said:

“Today, violence, migration, disasters and wars, which have reached a level that threatens all humanity, regardless of religion, language, race, geography and social status, affect our women the most. While our women try to stand upright in the face of all these physical and mental negativities, they try to maintain their identities such as motherhood, companionship and adoption, while they also try to maintain their social statuses such as housewives and business women. Unfortunately, women who take such heavy responsibilities are sometimes exposed to behaviors such as "physical or psychological violence" that harm human dignity and are a continuation of the understanding of ignorance.

Violence against women, which is not confined to an era, geography and nation, but points to a corrupt mentality, cannot be condoned, has any direction or excuse. All traditions, customs and beliefs that justify violence, defer compassion and offend women should be rejected.

Undoubtedly, the most important share in ensuring our social structure and family integrity and raising successful and happy generations belongs to our women. Investing in women is a vital investment in the future. The existence of successful women in every field in our society will empower us to become an educated, conscious and developed country.

With these feelings and thoughts, I congratulate the "8 March International Women's Day" of our self-sacrificing women, whose existence we are honored with at every moment of our lives, who do not spare their support when we need it, who educate and raise us, give us the love and compassion in their hearts, and shape new generations with the role of motherhood.
