Rector Çakmak is in Taiwan for Cooperation Talks

Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak visited universities and institutions in Taiwan to hold a series of contacts and meetings.

Prof., one of the faculty members of the Faculty of Science, to hold cooperation discussions for the ERASMUS+ KA171 project, which offers higher education students and staff the opportunity to study or gain professional experience in a country called "partner country". Dr. Adem Kara and Assoc. Dr. Rector Çakmak, who went to Taiwan with İsmail Bezirğanoğlu, visited National Chung Hsing University, Tunghai University and CH Biotech company.

Rector Çakmak and his accompanying delegation visited National Chung Hsing University College of Life Sciences on the first day of their visit to Taiwan, Dean Prof. Dr. Chieh met with Chen Huang and discussed possible cooperation opportunities between the two universities. During the meeting, ideas were exchanged about supporting students' personal development and employability and improving international academic mobility.

Later, Rector Çakmak met with Turkish students who continued their postgraduate education from ETU to National Chung Hsing University with Taiwan National Chung Hsing University Academic Exchange Program (PAX) and received information about the studies carried out there.

On the second day of his visit to Taiwan, Rector Çakmak and his entourage went to CH Biotech, a company operating in the fields of new agricultural chemicals and biotechnology, and received information about the R&D studies. Rector Çakmak, who held a meeting with the authorities about the opportunity for ETÜ Faculty of Science students to do internships at CH Biotech in the coming period, stated that the necessary steps have been taken and a cooperation agreement will be signed soon.

After the meeting at CH Biotech, Chung Hsing University Vice Rector and External Relations Coordinator Dr. Meeting with Chi Chung Chou, Rector Çakmak signed an agreement to increase the 3-person quota allocated to ETÜ within the scope of the PAX program.

Later, the ETU delegation hosted at the Biotechnology Institute was presented with Prof. Dr. Information was given about the work done by Chung Chi Hu and the laboratories were toured. Rector Çakmak then moved to the Optoelectronics Research Institute, where he met with the administrators of the institution and made an agreement that included both universities taking joint online postgraduate course programs and the exchange of faculty members in the relevant departments.

On the last day of his visit to Taiwan, Rector Çakmak visited Tunghai University and signed a protocol covering the inclusion of students studying at both universities in exchange programs. Rector Çakmak completed his program by meeting with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.

Stating that they attach importance to international collaborations in line with the vision determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Rector Çakmak said: “Within the scope of the KA171 Program, we support both our students and our academic staff to have a different experience by collaborating with countries from different geographies of the world. As a matter of fact, our staff and students who go abroad with these and similar agreements have the opportunity to get to know different cultures, improve their foreign language skills and expand their international communication networks while improving themselves academically. In this regard, we continue our work in line with our internationalization vision by holding meetings with various institutions and organizations based in Taiwan, especially the National Chung Hsing University. “I thank them for their warm welcome and hospitality,” he said.
