The first National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress was organized under the auspices of Erzurum Technical University (ETU).
ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, academics, and a large number of students attended the opening of the National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress, which aimed to discuss current developments in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics and bring together academics and students from all regions of Turkey.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Prof. Dr. Adem Kara, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Faculty of Science at ETU, emphasized the significant role of molecular biology and genetics in modern science, stating that the congress would contribute significantly to students' career development.
Following Prof. Dr. Kara, Prof. Dr. Ümit İncekara, Dean of the Faculty of Science, pointed out the high quality of education at ETU's Faculty of Science, stating that they had made significant progress in a short time and implemented many innovative practices.
Taking the podium to deliver his speech, Rector Çakmak emphasized the importance of student congresses, saying, "Dear friends, your participation in events like this is crucial for your future. Participation in congresses, symposiums, and workshops indicates your appreciation for collaborative work culture. Indeed, when stepping into professional life, your success in classes as well as your participation in such programs will serve as references for you. The question of what you have done to develop yourself throughout your education will always arise. By organizing the first National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress, we at ETU have initiated a tradition. I believe that in the coming years, this congress will continue. On this occasion, I would like to thank and congratulate the students and instructors who contributed to the organization of our congress and wish them success."
The congress, which was attended by nearly 400 students from 13 universities across Turkey, featured numerous poster presentations and oral sessions focusing on topics such as Boron in Plant and Human Studies, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Protein Engineering, and Identification of Target Molecules in Cancer Studies and Synthesis of Candidate Inhibitors.
