The Huawei R&D Meeting Program, which enables students studying in the Eastern and Southeastern provinces to improve themselves in the field of information and communication technologies, continued with events organized in cooperation with BTK Academy on November 28-29 at Erzurum Technical University and Atatürk University.
A total of 500 students and faculty members from relevant faculties attended the R&D Meeting held in cooperation with the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, Ataturk University, Erzurum Technical University and Huawei Turkey in two days.
Huawei continues its activities to bring young talents to the Turkish IT ecosystem without slowing down. The ‘Huawei R&D Meeting’ programs implemented within this scope continued with events organized at Erzurum Technical University and Atatürk University on November 28-29. The most important technological topics of today and the future, such as 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber security, mobile services and cloud computing, were discussed within the scope of the event that brought together the public, academia, associations and private sectors.
Within the scope of the R&D Meeting, students were also given different trainings in areas such as effective CV preparation, Linkedin usage, communication skills by Huawei experts.
Huawei R&D Meeting was held with the participation of Information Technologies and Communication Authority Human Resources and Education Department Head Mustafa Ermiş, Erzurum Technical University President Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, Ataturk University Vice President Prof. Dr. Bulent Cavusoglu, Huawei Turkey R&D Director He Ming and Huawei Turkey Public and Corporate Relations Director Omer Faruk Sahin.
Information Technologies and Communication Authority Human Resources and Education Department Head Mustafa Ermis stated the following in his speech, “As BTK Academy, we have provided 348 trainings to all our people free of charge to date. 1,180,508 people have completed our trainings and received their certificates. It is a source of pride for us to see that the certificates received from BTK Academy are a great reference source for students in finding a job and advancing in their careers. We continue to support our students not only with our online trainings but also with the competitions and events we organize with important stakeholders of the IT sector. We have also launched our BTK Academy mobile application. With 2.5 million users, 296 topics and 150 thousand minutes of training, we are the largest local and national online education portal in Turkey. In the Coding Marathon, which we organized for the third time together with Huawei, 30 students developed applications in the fields of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Students who ranked won computer awards. We are organizing the fourth of the R&D meetings covering the Eastern and Southeastern provinces in Erzurum with a two-day event together with Huawei. In this context, I would like to thank Atatürk University and Erzurum Technical University for hosting us, especially our students who participated in the event, and also the Huawei Turkey team for their cooperation with us for nearly four years.”
Erzurum Technical University President Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak emphasized that ETU attaches great importance to its studies in the field of information technologies and said: “We also closely follow the activities of Huawei and BTK Academy to bring young talents to the Turkish information sector. In this context, as Erzurum Technical University, we are happy to return with four awards from the 2024 Huawei Informatics Academy competitions. This year, we received a total of 780 applications and 500 people participated in the competitions.”
In his speech, Ataturk University Vice President Prof. Dr. Bulent Cavusoglu said, “We integrate Huawei’s trainings in our schools and participate in IT competitions. It is of great value to us that this event has been brought to Erzurum, to our students’ doorsteps. This meeting held by Huawei here in order to contribute to Turkey’s digital transformation is an extremely important step in terms of spreading technological competencies throughout the country. This event organized by Huawei offers a valuable structure in discovering new talents and developing them further. In line with the vision of the ‘Turkey Century’, we are very pleased to cooperate with BTK and Huawei around common goals such as supporting our country’s digital transformation and training qualified software developers. Such projects contribute to the creation of a strong technology infrastructure both individually and nationally by offering new opportunities to our youth.”
Huawei Turkey R&D Director He Ming said in his assessment, “As Huawei, we have witnessed every step of Turkey’s digitalization journey in the past 22 years. With our vision of ‘In Turkey, For Turkey’, we have been contributing to Turkey’s digital transformation for over twenty years. In this context, in addition to artificial intelligence, 5G and Huawei Mobile Services, we are working resolutely to contribute to Turkey’s IT infrastructure with our cloud platform Huawei Cloud, which we announced in 2023. Today, we are very honored to have successfully completed the Huawei R&D meeting, one of the most valuable applications of our work to train IT talents. On this occasion, I would like to thank BTK Academy, Atatürk University, Erzurum Technical University and everyone who took part in the field and took part in this project, including our students, for their close cooperation and important contributions,” he said.
At the end of the Huawei R&D meeting, HSD certificates were presented to Ataturk University and Erzurum Technical University Huawei student ambassadors, while students who attended the event had the opportunity to discuss the topics they were curious about one-on-one with experts in the IT world.
