Erzurum Technical University (ETU) students achieved a successful outcome at the Huawei ICT Innovation 2023-2024 Europe Final, organized in collaboration with Huawei and UNESCO Global Education Coalition.
The team "Computing," comprised of students Mehmet Emin Bastem and Kadirhan Özdemir, mentored by Assistant Professor Merve Yıldırım from the Department of Computer Engineering at ETU, secured first place in the Europe Final of the Huawei ICT Practice competition after achieving success in the Turkey Final, surpassing all their competitors.
In the innovation category, the team "ETUAIgronomists," consisting of Kübra Keskin, İlayda Ayvaz, and Meryem Yazıcı, claimed the second spot by outperforming competitors from Greece and Spain.
The students who will represent our country and ETU in the World Final, to be held in China, will receive their awards from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, at a ceremony scheduled for April 24th in Istanbul.
Commenting on the matter, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak congratulated the students who competed in the Europe Final, saying, "I wholeheartedly congratulate our students representing our university in the competition organized by the technology giant Huawei. Throughout this process, our students not only competed with their opponents but also dealt with stress and excitement, achieving remarkable results. The next step is the world final. We have no doubt that our students Mehmet and Kadirhan will represent ETU and our country in the World Final in China in the best possible way. I wish them success in advance."
