Muhammed Ali Demirel, the national athlete of Erzurum Technical University (ETU), won the silver medal at the European Judo Championships for Adults.
Muhammet Ali Demirel, a student at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching at ETU's Faculty of Sports Sciences, competed in the 66kg category at the European Judo Championships for Adults held in the capital city of Croatia, Zagreb. By advancing to the final, he brought the silver medal to our country.
With this result, Demirel gained an important advantage to participate in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, expressing great happiness after the competition.
Congratulating Demirel, Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak expressed great pride, saying, "Muhammet Ali has brought us great pride and joy. He represented our country and university in the best way possible and finished the championship as the European runner-up. We expect a gold medal from him at this year's Olympics in Paris. On this occasion, I once again sincerely congratulate him and his technical team, and wish them continued success."
