Invention from ETÜ to Comfort the Logistics Industry

The invention named "A Storage System" developed in the laboratories of Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) was approved by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and was entitled to receive a patent.

Dr. from ETÜ Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Industrial Engineering. Lecturer Member Mahmut Tutam, Prof. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Mehmet Akif Ceviz and Dr. from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Lecturer The invention titled "A Storage System", put forward by member Turgay Duman for storing products in the logistics sector and carrying out order collection operations from the storage area, was patented by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.

Dr. Lecturer Organized by member Mahmut Tutam, Dr. Lecturer Member Turgay Duman is a researcher and Prof. Dr. Making statements about the invention developed within the scope of the project titled "Optimization and Improvement of a Robot-Based Compact Storage and Unloading System Design", in which Mehmet Akif Ceviz took part as a consultant, Dr. Lecturer Member Tutam stated that the invention enables programmable carrier robots to easily reach the desired box by rotating the boxes vertically in order to improve the time it takes to reach the boxes stacked on top of each other in robot-based compact storage and unloading systems.

Pointing out that today's social and economic difficulties have caused slowdowns in logistics services and storage activities gaining importance, Tutam stated that the increase in individual and personalized product demands has changed the storage processes: "It is of great importance to deliver thousands of products to customers on time and economically." With our new invention, we aim to minimize energy consumption in robotic compact storage and unloading systems used in America and Europe. By improving existing systems, greater efficiency and energy savings can be achieved. Considering the rapid developments in the e-commerce and logistics sector in Turkey, we foresee that such innovative systems can be used in our country in a short time.” he said.
