An award ceremony was organized at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) for project teams that qualified for support under the "2209-A University Students Support Program" of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in 2023.
The event, held at the Faculty of Science Conference Hall, was attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim and Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, deans, academicians, and the students whose projects were accepted.
In his opening speech, Rector Çakmak highlighted the increasing number of developed projects accepted at ETÜ, stating: "As you know, the TUBITAK Middle School Student Research Projects Competitions are held at our university. When I see them, I remember your childhood because the culture of projects begins to be acquired from those ages. When we used to talk about projects, generally research and development activities prepared by academicians came to mind. However, in recent times, with the support of TUBITAK, this understanding has changed, and now we also discuss projects prepared by students. At this point, the successes you achieve will contribute significantly to the recognition and visibility of our university, and will also provide important gains for your careers. Because when we look at the feedback we receive from our graduate students, we see that employers prioritize not only academic success but also qualities such as teamwork and project culture. I believe that with the same determination and perseverance, the number of accepted projects will increase even more in the coming period. On this occasion, I would like to thank our valuable students and our advising professors who guide you with their knowledge and experience, and wish you continued success."
The program concluded with Rector Cakmak and Vice-Rectors presenting certificates of appreciation to the students and their advisors, followed by a group photo.
