Futsal Tournament Organized in Memory of Martyr Seyda Yılmaz and Martyr Eren Bulbul at ETÜ

A futsal tournament was organized at Erzurum Technical University in memory of Martyr Police Officer Seyda Yılmaz and Martyr Eren Bulbul.
A futsal tournament was organized in memory of Eren Bulbul, who lost his life in a clash between members of a treacherous terrorist organization and members of the Gendarmerie in 2017, and Police Officer Seyda Yılmaz, who lost her life in September when a suspect who escaped from a police station in Istanbul shot her, in cooperation with the ETU Faculty of Sports Sciences and the student club Education and Culture Club.
The final match of the tournament held at the ETU Indoor Sports Hall was attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, Deputy Governor İlyas Ozturk, Erzurum Branch President of the Turkish War Disabled Veterans, Martyrs, Widows and Orphans Recep Akgul, Erzurum Branch President of the Turkish Veterans and Martyrs' Families Foundation Rıza Demir, Erzurum Provincial President of the World Youth and Sports Confederation Gürkan Sönmez and many students.
Speaking at the opening program that started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Rector Cakmak emphasized that the organization had a very special meaning, saying: “With this organization that we organized in the name of our two martyrs, we actually remember with mercy all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our homeland and all our martyrs who lost their lives as a result of the persecution they suffered in oppressed geographies, especially in Palestine. In this respect, I believe that the tournament has a special meaning. It is very valuable for us that such physical facilities that our university has are used not only for education and training purposes but also for such meaningful organizations. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Education and Culture Club and our Coordinator Teacher Res. Asst. Furkan Öget, who contributed to the organization.”

Following his speech, Rector Cakmak held a video call with the mothers of Martyr Eren Bulbul and Martyr Seyda Yılmaz and conveyed his condolences. In the final competition that started with the first whistle after the opening program, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Faculty of Sports Sciences defeated the Department of History of the Faculty of Letters with a score of 2-1 and became the champion.
