The white coat ceremony was held at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) on June 6, World Dietitians Day.
ETU Rector Prof. attended the event held at the ETU Life Center Conference Hall. Dr. Bulent Çakmak, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Elanur Yılmaz Karabulutlu, academicians, students and families attended.
Speaking at the opening of the program organized to celebrate Dietitians' Day and to share the excitement of first and second year students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Faculty of Health Sciences in wearing aprons, Dean Karabulutlu pointed out that dietitians play an important role in public health and said: "Dietitians are the members of the society in the light of scientific knowledge and ethical values." It helps people gain healthy eating habits. In this sense, each dietitian has the power to positively affect individuals' lives. We are very proud and happy that the young dietitian candidates here today will undertake this important responsibility. The white coat is a symbol of purity, science and ethical values. Our students, who will wear these aprons today, should internalize these values and always strive to achieve the best as they take their first steps into their professional lives. "These aprons entrusted to you will always remind you of how important your responsibility and profession are."
Rector Cakmak, who took the podium after Dean Karabulutlu, stated that dietitians play a key role in improving people's nutritional habits and said: “Dear students, the white coats you will wear today as a candidate health professional are not just a symbol of a profession. It also means doing everything you can to protect the health of your patients and clients and improve their quality of life. To always work in line with ethical and scientific principles, to keep your knowledge up to date and to improve yourself. Our expectation from you is that you uphold the ethical values of your profession, observe human values in all situations, and display a self-confident stance in every environment with your professional knowledge and skills. "I congratulate all our dietitians on Dietitians' Day and wish them success in their professional lives," he said.
The program, which continued after the speeches, ended with the students wearing white coats and taking a souvenir photo.
