Graduation Excitement at ETU

The graduation ceremony for the 2023-2024 Academic Year at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) was held with great excitement.

Many students who successfully completed the faculties of Literature, Science, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, and Sports Sciences in the 2023-2024 Academic Year celebrated their graduation with their families.

During the weekend, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, General Secretary Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, academic and administrative staff, as well as the graduating students and their families, attended the graduation ceremonies.

"Be the Ones Who Are Sought, Not the Ones Who Seek"

Speaking at the start of the program, Rector Cakmak proudly bid farewell to the 9th batch of graduates at ETU this year, saying: "After a challenging 4-year marathon, you are successfully graduating from our university. Therefore, I congratulate you all. I also extend my congratulations to your families, loved ones who have always been by your side, and our instructors for their efforts. It's natural to feel sorrow at every separation. However, we know that an Erzurum Technical University graduate, no matter how far away they may be or how many years pass, becomes an inseparable part of ETU. I would also like to express to our dear parents that, as we embarked on this journey with the slogan 'Education begins with respect for the student,' our primary duty has been to raise individuals who will be beneficial to their families, their country, and all of humanity, equipped with knowledge, principles, and quality. While practicing your professions, please strive to do your best. Value people for being human, use your position as a means to serve humanity rather than satisfying your ego, fulfill your responsibilities, and be the ones who are sought after, not the ones who seek."

"We Will Eradicate Darkness with the Light of Goodness We Spread"

Addressing the events in Gaza in his speech, Rector Cakmak expressed that people are being mercilessly killed: "Tens of thousands of innocent people, regardless of being children, women, or the elderly, are being killed in front of the whole world. On the other hand, those with hearts full of love for humanity express their reactions in every way possible. At this point, the answer to the question of what we can do should be to increase goodness. Against those spreading evil in the world, we will establish justice in our homes, workplaces, and human relationships, send waves of goodness to the universe, and emerge victorious. Like the ant carrying water to the fire, we will always strive for goodness to the best of our ability. We will be individuals who perform their work excellently, show mercy and compassion to all living beings. We will eradicate darkness with the light of goodness we spread. The purpose of life is not only to have a good job, make money, build a career, or accumulate wealth. It is also about having values, being principled, and being beneficial individuals to humanity. As I conclude my words with these feelings and thoughts, I congratulate you once again on your graduation and wish you an open and prosperous path in your future life."

Following the speeches, graduation certificates were presented to the students, and plaques and gifts were given to the students who excelled in their departments.

The graduation programs ended with the students tossing their caps and taking souvenir photos.
