An award ceremony was held for Research Assistant Cebrail Gençoğlu, who is Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Youth Sports Club athlete and ETU Faculty of Sports Sciences academic staff member as well, and Hakan Koç, a 3rd year student of the Department of Physical Education and Sports in European Kickboxing Championship organized by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO).

ETU President Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Birol Soysal, academics and many students have attended thee program held at the Faculty of Sports Sciences Conference and Exhibition Hall.

The gold medallist Research Assistant Cebrail Gençoğlu and the bronze medal winner Hakan Koç in the championship held in Antalya in November, where 1500 athletes from 38 countries competed, have received their gifts from President Bülent Çakmak.

Speaking after Dean Soysal, President Bülent Çakmak emphasized that the athletes also achieved successful results in previous organizations and said, “After the trophies our athletes won in national and international competitions, the degrees they received in the European Championship added happiness to our happiness. These successes they have achieved make extremely important contributions to the recognition and recognition of our country, city and university as well as their own careers. Speaking in the program, Cebrail Gençoğlu stated that the road to the gold medal is long and arduous: “People can only see your success or the medal you have won. However, we had many memories during this period. Just while I was preparing for this tournament, I broke my nose twice, cracks occurred in my metatarsal bone. All these are events that are difficult to describe and must be experienced by living. But all the difficulties I experienced disappeared when I got to the podium representing our country. With these feelings, I would like to thank my trainer Emre Şahin, our President, our teachers and everyone who contributed to my development.”

Hakan Koç: I will return to Erzurum with a Gold Medal.

Hakan Koç, who stated that he was very happy to study at a university that values sports and athletes, said: “We really put a lot of effort, we worked hard. In this tournament, I took the 3rd place podium and waved our flag. This is my second year in the senior category. I hope I will work harder in the coming period and return to our city as a world champion. With these thoughts, I would like to thank our president and teaching fellows who have always supported us, especially my family and my trainer.”
