Erzurum Technical University (ETU) achieved a remarkable success at the Emre Yazgan Spor Toto Turkish Judo Championship by winning 2 gold and 1 silver medals.

Held in the capital city of Ankara on January 18-19, with the participation of 261 female and 357 male athletes from 55 cities, the Emre Yazgan Spor Toto Turkish Judo Championship saw outstanding performances from ETU students. Competing in the 66 kg category, Muhammet Ali Demirel, a student from the Faculty of Sport Sciences Physical Education and Sports Department, and Ibrahim Demirel, competing in the 73 kg category, also a student from the Physical Education and Sports Department, defeated all their opponents and brought gold medals to ETU. Additionally, Bilal Ciloglu, a graduate student from the Institute of Health Sciences Physical Education and Sports Department, secured the silver medal by finishing second in the 73 kg category.

Congratulating the athletes and the technical team following the championship, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak stated: “We continue to collect medals where we left off. Judo is one of the branches where we are most competitive, and our students have once again proven this to everyone. I believe our young athletes will represent our university and our country in the best way possible at international championships. On this occasion, I wholeheartedly congratulate our athletes and their coaches once again and wish them continued success.”
