ETÜ Became the Owner of the Summit in Palandöken

Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) achieved great success by winning the first place cup in both men's and women's categories at the Turkish University Sports Federation Winter Sports Games.

While 198 athletes from 19 universities participated in the Ski Alpine Discipline and Snowboard Turkey Championship held at Palandöken Ski Center on 10-11 February 2024, ETÜ Ski Alpine Discipline Men's Team athletes Bünyamin Çelik, Mahmut Kazanç, Tuğrul Çemlek, Salih Yusuf Kartaltepe and Muhsin Murat Bingül won the race. They took first place with their results.

ETÜ Ski Alpine Skiing Women's Team athletes Sıla Kara, Zerda Tımarlı, Hilal Çelik and Aliye Zeynep Bingül left Özyeğin University behind and won the first place cup to ETÜ.

 In the championship, ETU's National Athlete Sıla Kara achieved the best result and won the gold medal in the Ski Alpine Skiing individual slalom races, while Zerda Tımarlı won the bronze medal. The name of the summit did not change in the Alpine giant slalom races and Sıla Kara brought another gold medal to ETÜ.

In the men's Ski Alpine Skiing individual slalom races, ETÜ's National Athlete Bünyamin Çelik won the gold medal, while Mahmut Kazanç came third and won the bronze medal. In the Big Slalom races, Bünyamin Çelik won the silver medal, while Salih Yusuf Kartaltepe succeeded in coming third.

National Athlete Ali Armanç Yağan, competing in the Snowboard Turkey Championship Big Slalom, took the second step of the podium and brought the silver medal to ETÜ.

ETÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak followed the races on site and congratulated the athletes and said: “We were very pleased to see our university at the top in Palandöken. Our athletes participated in this championship by making great sacrifices. We achieved very good results both individually and as a team, receiving 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, and won the first place cup in women's and men's teams in Alpine Skiing. "I would like to thank everyone who contributed, especially our athletes and coaches, who made us feel this great pride," he said.
