A Student Societies and Clubs Promotion Festival was organized for students who started studying at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) in the new academic year.
The Student Societies and Clubs Promotion Festival was held within the scope of the orientation programs organized to enable newly registered students at ETU, which started the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year, to discover the academic, social, cultural and sports opportunities offered by the university and to accelerate their adaptation processes.
ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, Erzurum Youth and Sports Provincial Director, academic and administrative personnel and many students attended the event held in the Life Center Square.
Led by the Corporate Communications and Promotion Directorate and the Health, Culture and Sports Department, the festival was hosted by academic advisors and club presidents who provided information to students who are new to the university about the events they have organized in previous years and the programs included in their activity calendars this year. While students saw the work done by the clubs in the areas they were interested in, they became members of clubs operating in different areas in order to improve themselves socio-culturally and professionally, to make good use of their free time and to gain the habit of having fun together; they had a great time with concerts, award-winning competitions and various events.
Speaking at the opening of the festival, Rector Çakmak stated that the Student Societies and Clubs Promotion Festival is traditionally held at the beginning of each fall semester and said: “We attach great importance to the social, cultural and sports development of our students. Because when you graduate from our university and enter the business world, employers will evaluate not only your academic success but also your inclination towards teamwork and whether you have a collaborative work culture. For this reason, our club promotion festival offers an important opportunity for you to gain the additional skills we mentioned. We have over 40 active clubs here. You can become a member of any of them or you can establish a new club yourself. These are very important for your personal development. University life is not just about classes. Thanks to such activities, you will socialize, make new friends and develop many of your talents. Together with you, we will increase both the number and quality of our clubs. On this occasion, I welcome you all once again and wish that the 2024-2025 Academic Year will be beneficial for all of us.”
