In the Turkish Boxing Championship organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (UNILIG), Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) athletes made two in two competition.

In the championship hosted by Kastamonu University Ay Yıldız Sports and Life Center with the participation of 107 male and 37 female athletes between 8-12 May 2023, ETU Sports Sciences Faculty Coaching Department 1st year student Murat Uğurlu won the bronze medal in 63 kg, while the Coaching Department competed in 67 kg. 1st year student Gökdeniz Yağar made it to the finals and won the silver medal.

Congratulating the Boxing team, which returned to Erzurum after the medal ceremony, Rector Çakmak stated that they were very happy and said: “The success of Murat and Gökdeniz is very valuable for us. Because they are also our national athletes who fight on behalf of our country in various champions. I know that they work very hard in the company of our teachers without interrupting their training. Therefore, the results obtained did not surprise us. However, I would like to express that I expect a gold medal from our youth next year. Once again, I congratulate both our athletes and our coaches and wish them continued success.”
