The 5th Applied Mathematics and Engineering Days Workshop, hosted by Erzurum Technical University (ETU) and organized in cooperation with Fırat University, Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, İnönü University, Harran University, Ordu University, Azerbaijan University and Final International University, has started.
ETU President Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, academicians and many graduate students have attended.
Going up to the rostrum to make the opening speech of the program, Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Ercan Çelik stated that the aim of the workshop is to bring together young academicians and academician candidates and exchange ideas, “Our experienced teachers in the field of Applied Mathematics and Engineering will conduct the courses during the workshop. For this reason, all academicians who come together will have the opportunity to convey their ideas, knowledge and experiences about their work to academic candidates. I hope that our work will be successful and in line with its purpose, I would like to thank everyone who contributed and thank you for your participation”.
After Prof. Dr. Çelik’s speech, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı expressed her pleasure in hosting the workshop: “The adventure for young researchers started in 2019 and we talked to our professors at that time. Can ETU also host such an event? Years have passed and we are here together today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the organization of the workshop, especially to our President, who provided all kinds of opportunities.”
President Çakmak, who pointed out that current mathematics and engineering issues will be discussed in the workshop, stated that he believes that productive outputs will be obtained at the end of the program: “As ETU, we support multidisciplinary studies in order to properly associate its scientific activities and mission with our country's preferences and priorities in the path of development. In this direction, a study in the field of biomathematics is carried out with the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in our Mathematics Department. This work is also supported by TÜBİTAK 1001 project support. In addition, studies on artificial intelligence and cryptology with the Computer Engineering and Electrical-Electronics Engineering Departments at the Faculty of Engineering are among our goals. We foresee that other multidisciplinary collaborations can be formed through this workshop.”
In the 3-day workshop, young researchers will learn about new approaches in many fields from academicians who are experts in their fields, from analytical and numerical solutions of differential equations to computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer, from mathematical biology and its applications to artificial intelligence and cryptology applications.
