"July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" Photograph Exhibition Was Held

Within the scope of "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" events, Erzurum Technical University hold the same themed photography exhibition.  Erzurum Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. İrfan Kaymaz and Prof. Dr. Birol Soysal along with faculty deans, institute and school principals, academic and administrative staff of our university, and invitees attended to the opening ceremony of the exhibition held in the exhibition area of ETU Library.

Images from the whole country after the treacherous coup attempt on July 15 were displayed in the exhibition. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK made a speech at the opening of the exhibition:
“The July 15 coup attempt is a treacherous undertaking organized by the Fetö terrorist organization, under the cover of religion, and is a black mark in history. During the coup attempt, upon the call of our President, our nation rushed into the flock squares, airports and bridges in great solidarity and exhibited an epic resistance to the attack. We all know that this is a first in Turkey's history. One of the important implications of the July 15 coup attempt is undoubtedly the youth. Because there were many young people among the insurgents of that first night. Until that night, there were serious concerns and negative opinions about young people in many circumstances. It was often said that this youth, called Z generation, is apolitical, selfish and consumer, indifferent to country and world issues. However, that night revealed that all these opinions were unjust and unfair. It should also be noted that events such as the shooting of bullets on civilians, the bombing of parliament are normally unimaginable actions. The soldiers who grew up in the army but were slaved, made them to their own nation. What lies at the base of this problem is the absolute sense of obedience. Absolute obedience to any religious leader causes such actions to take place easily. As educators, we have an important mission in this regard. We need to raise the youth who questions, seeks, and criticizes, rather than an absolute obedient youth. In this sense, this is one of our biggest duties as educators. As I complete my words, I commemorate our brothers and sisters who died in this resistance with mercy and gratitude. I offer my respects and gratitude to our veterans. I would like to express my gratitude, wishing that our July 15 exhibition will contribute to good. ”

The July 15 Exhibition will be on display until July 17.
