After the earthquake disaster, the epicenter of which was Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces, the in-kind and cash aids collected at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) continue to be delivered to the earthquake area.
In order to meet the needs of the citizens affected by the earthquake, coats, heaters, underwear, shoes, tubes, personal and general hygiene materials collected from ETU members and philanthropic business people from Erzurum were loaded on the truck allocated by the university and delivered to Hatay, one of the cities most shaken by the earthquake.
As a result of the meetings held by ETU Personnel Department Head Abdulmütalip Çetin with the authorities in the coordination center, the collected aids were distributed to the citizens in Kisecik and Yaylacık villages of Antakya District of Hatay and Hancagiz village of Defne District.
In addition, ETU Faculty of Health Sciences faculty members, who was in the team that went to the region, Dr. Instructor Member Melikşah Turan and Dr. Instructor Member İzzet Ülker came together with the earthquake victims in the region and participated in pre-rehabilitation and rehabilitation works.
Later, the team visited the relatives of ETU Computer Engineering 1st year student Rabia Elmacı, who lost her life with her family in the earthquake, and met with Rector Prof. Dr. He conveyed his condolences to Bülent Çakmak and the ETÜ Family.
Rector Çakmak, who spoke about the aid delivered to the region, stated that all means had been mobilized since the first day of the disaster: “We have launched in-kind and cash aid campaigns throughout our university for our earthquake victims. We deliver the collected materials to the earthquake zone in coordination with our relevant institutions and organizations. Not only our university staff and students, but also our compatriots and business people from Erzurum provide various assistance by participating in our campaign. I would like to express my sincere thanks once again to our teams, who have not spared their help in this difficult day and continue their work in the region by joining day and night. May God not let our nation experience such suffering again," he said.
