A project titled “New and Novel Data Mining Approaches for Discovering High-Utility
Patterns in Data Streams,” led by Dr. İrfan Yıldırım from the Department of Computer
Engineering at Erzurum Technical University (ETU), has been awarded funding under the
TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
The project focuses on next-generation data mining approaches that enable real-time analysis
of large-scale and continuously generated data streams. In this context, it aims to develop
methods that jointly consider the relationship between the benefits obtained from streaming
data and the resources used.
Commenting on the project, Dr. İrfan Yıldırım stated that they will develop new data mining
approaches that focus on real-time evaluation in data streams while integrating the concepts of
utility and investment. He added:
“In this project, we are working on original pattern definitions and measures, as well as
scalable algorithms that will enable the discovery of these patterns. We aim for the developed
methods to produce meaningful and high-utility results in various fields such as marketing,
retail, healthcare, and climate.”
