Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) has made waves in the academic community with a remarkable achievement in the "2209-A University Students Research Projects Encourage Program" for the 2023/2 term, administered by TÜBİTAK Scientist Support Programs Institution (BİDEB), boasting an impressive acceptance rate of 71%.
During the latter part of 2023, ETÜ submitted a total of 91 projects to TÜBİTAK's University Students Research Projects Encourage Program. This initiative is designed to foster research among undergraduate students and enhance their project preparation skills with guidance from academic mentors. Out of these submissions, ETÜ secured funding for 65 projects, yielding a notable acceptance rate of 71%.
Under the program, TÜBİTAK will extend a monthly scholarship of 9,000 TL to support these 65 projects. The projects span various disciplines, with 10 from the Faculty of Letters, 15 from the Faculty of Science, 10 from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, 24 from the Faculty of Health Sciences, and 6 from the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
Professor Dr. Bülent Çakmak, the Rector of ETÜ, commended the increasing participation in the 2209-A University Students Research Projects Encourage Program. He noted the significant progress made since the previous term in 2022, when only 21 projects received funding. Dr. Çakmak expressed his delight at the substantial growth, highlighting that the number of submissions had increased fivefold and accepted projects had tripled within a short span. Notably, out of 16,694 project proposals nationwide, 51%, totaling 8,900, were approved. ETÜ's acceptance rate exceeding 71% is a testament to its exceptional performance.
Dr. Çakmak extended his congratulations to all students and advisors involved in the application and selection process, acknowledging their dedication and success.
