Prof. Dr. Serhat Ozbay, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Erzurum Technical University (ETU), will serve on the Olympic Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, which operates within the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK).

The commission will conduct studies aimed at transferring scientific knowledge and technological developments to the Olympic sports ecosystem. The goal is to bring together sports sciences and different disciplines, and to evaluate innovative applications in a way that contributes to the development of the Olympic movement.

The commission's work is expected to cover various topics concerning the future of Olympic sports, from improving athlete performance and supporting scientific research to the use of new technologies in sports and data-driven applications. The aim is to strengthen Turkiye's scientific capacity in the Olympic field and to share academic knowledge with different stakeholders in sports through studies conducted on the axis of science, technology, and innovation.

Commenting on his appointment to the commission, Prof. Dr. Serhat Ozbay, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at ETU, stated that sports are currently interacting much more strongly with scientific and technological advancements.

Ozbay noted that scientific data and new technologies are becoming decisive in many areas, from improving athlete performance to planning training processes, and added, "It is no longer possible to evaluate the future of Olympic sports solely through on-field work. A multidisciplinary structure that combines sports science, data analysis, technology, and innovation is becoming increasingly important. I find it extremely valuable to bring our academic knowledge and experience together with studies that will contribute to our country's Olympic goals in this commission."

Ozbay noted that the work to be carried out by the commission with experts from different disciplines will contribute to the development of new research and applications, stating, "It is important that the scientific knowledge produced in universities can directly contribute to our athletes, coaches, and sports institutions. By making the academic expertise of ETU Faculty of Sports Sciences a part of these studies, we aim to contribute to the science and technology-based development of Turkish sports."

Ozbay emphasized the importance of the working environment created for the development of Olympic sports on the axis of science, technology, and innovation, saying, "I would like to thank the President of the Turkish National Olympic Committee, Prof. Dr. Veli Ozan Cakir, and the President of the Olympic Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, Prof. Dr. Ayse Turksoy Isim, for their support in creating a working environment that prioritizes common sense and a scientific approach in this field.
