Students from Erzurum Technical University (ETU), who took part in TEKNOFEST 2025, the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, achieved significant success with the artificial intelligence-based health project they developed.
The “LUMINEUX” team, consisting of third-year Computer Engineering Department students İrem Nur Demiray, Dilara Adıgüzel and Ezgi Sima Alkan, came in fourth in the free category of the Turkish Natural Language Processing Competition with their project titled “FarmaBot.”
Developed with the consultancy of Dr. Işıl Karabey Aksakallı, a faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at ETÜ, to promote conscious drug use, the project aims to prevent unconscious drug use and provide fast and accurate access to information in the field of health.
FarmaBot, an AI-powered chatbot developed with pharmacologist approval, analyzes drug package inserts to identify drug-drug and drug-food interactions. The system responds instantly to user questions and improves itself based on the feedback it receives, continuously updating its information flow.
Thanks to the application, users can access critical information such as side effects, usage warnings and interactions in a clear, reliable and fast way without having to read the entire package insert.
