Associate Professor Dr Murat Aydemir, a member of the academic staff at the Department
of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Science, Erzurum Technical University (ETU), has been
nominated for Full Membership by Sigma Xi—one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious
scientific societies—in recognition of his scientific research, academic productivity and the
high-quality contributions he has made to his field.
Founded in the United States in 1886 with the aim of contributing to the development of a
culture of scientific research, Sigma Xi operates as an international honour society that
brings together distinguished researchers, scientists and engineers from various disciplines.
Through its membership system, the organisation not only recognises scientific
achievements but also provides a vital platform that fosters collaboration among
researchers, supports career development and enhances scientific engagement.
Sigma Xi membership offers researchers the opportunity to join a strong international
network of scientists, access research funding, benefit from career development

Following the invitation to join Sigma Xi, ETU Rector Prof. Dr Bulent Çakmak congratulated
Assoc. Prof. Dr Aydemir, stated that this nomination represents a significant recognition of
