A seminar was organized on December 7, International Civil Aviation Day, in order to bring together the students of the Aerospace Engineering Department, which received its first students this year, within the Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ) Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and the managers of the stakeholders in the sector.
ETÜ Rector Prof. attended the seminar held at the Faculty of Engineering Conference Hall. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Dean Murat Demir Aydın, State Airports Authority Erzurum Airport Chief Manager Muhammet Hanifi Fidan, Çelebi Ground Service Erzurum Airport Station Manager Fatma Yağmur Taşkın, academicians and students attended.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Dean Aydın stated that they are proud to train students for the field of aerospace engineering, which is one of the most important elements of Turkey's domestic and national technology move, at ETÜ and said: “As a department, we accepted students for the first time this year. Having such a department in aviation and space, which is an extremely strategic field, is very valuable for both us and our country. "In this process, I consider the support that our stakeholders in the sector will give us with their knowledge and experience very important, and on this occasion, I congratulate 7 December International Civil Aviation Day," he said.
Rector Çakmak, who took the podium after Dean Aydın, pointed out that aviation and space fields are among the fields in which all countries strive to dominate, and said: "In our country, our institutions train the qualified human resources needed both in the field of aviation and space engineering and in the field of civil aviation. As ETÜ, we activated our aerospace engineering department and started accepting students as of this year. As a technical university, it is unthinkable for aerospace engineering to be left out of other engineering disciplines. We have very qualified professors in our department, and when necessary, our professors in our electrical electronics, mechanical and computer engineering departments will provide the necessary support in educational activities. In addition, we will bring together important scientists from our country and the world with our students in order to offer the best education to our students. Because our aim is to ensure that our students graduate in the most qualified way, not only at the national level but also at the international level. At this point, we also have protocols with the leading companies in the aviation field of our country. In the coming years, we will organize technical visits to these companies and provide you with the opportunity to see the work done in the field. "You will work hard in this process and make the most of the opportunities offered," he said.
Speaking at the seminar, Hanifi Fidan gave information about the duties and responsibilities of the State Airports Authority and then shared information with the students about the job application processes.
