The “3rd Postgraduate Student Symposium on Social Sciences”, organised by the Institute of
Social Sciences at Erzurum Technical University (ETU), brought postgraduate researchers
together on a single platform.
The opening ceremony of the symposium, organised with the aim of fostering the exchange
of knowledge on conceptual, methodological and empirical issues in the social sciences and
contributing to research conducted from diverse perspectives, was attended by ETU Vice-
Rector Prof. Dr Naim Ürkmez, deans, academics and a large number of students.
Speaking at the opening of the symposium, Prof. Dr Serap Bedir Kara, Director of the
Institute of Social Sciences, emphasised that the sharing of academic work produced in the
field of social sciences is important for scientific development, noting that the opportunity
for postgraduate students to present their research at high-quality academic forums makes a
significant contribution to their academic development.
A total of 83 papers were presented during the symposium, which comprised 17 sessions in
total, with 43 delivered in person and 40 online. The programme, which saw the
participation of postgraduate students from various universities, fostered an environment
for academic exchange by evaluating scientific research within the framework of different
disciplines. Furthermore, as part of the programme, seminars were delivered to participants
by Prof. Dr Kerem Karabulut, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative
Sciences at Atatürk University, and Dr Ali Ahmetbeyoğlu, a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at
