60+ Refreshment University Students at ETU Begin the New Term with an Orientation Program

An orientation program was organized for students enrolled in the 60+ Refreshment University implemented within Erzurum Technical University.

The new term started with an orientation program for students who registered to the 60+ Refreshment University, which was established in ETÜ with the slogan of “Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Refreshment” in order to encourage the active participation of individuals aged 60 and over in Erzurum in society and to enable them to acquire new skills.

ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Elanur Yılmaz Karabulutlu, academicians and students registered to 60+ Refreshment University attended the program held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Speaking at the program, Rector Çakmak expressed that they were very happy to host individuals who registered for the 60+ Refreshment University at ETÜ and said: “As happy and proud as we are to be here with you, our valuable elders, you are also happy and proud to be the first students of the 60+ Refreshment University. We will be in mutual interaction during this process. While we share our knowledge with you, you will share your experiences and knowledge with us. I am sure that we will learn a lot from you during this process. Our effort and endeavor will be to ensure that you benefit from this program to the maximum extent. You will be involved in many cultural and artistic activities during this process. You will work at the same table with your grandchildren or children. On this occasion, I welcome you all once again and wish that the new term will be beneficial for all of us.”

Speaking at the program, Yakup Akpınar, one of the students of 60+ Refreshment University, thanked those who contributed to the implementation of the project and said: “I personally got very excited when I saw the announcement of the project. I am sure that my friends also experienced the same excitement. We all came running with this feeling and registered. I would like to emphasize that the education that we will provide with great devotion and the time you will spend will definitely not be wasted. Your efforts will never be wasted. In addition to the interest and effort we will have in our lessons, we will also be an example to our young student brothers and sisters here. When we come here, we will leave our past aside and enter the door as students. We will make every sacrifice when our experience is used. If our lives allow, we will celebrate our graduation together, God willing.”

The program ended with 60+ Refreshment University students touring the campus accompanied by their professors and receiving information about social opportunities.
