Erzurum Technical University (ETU) has been granted full accreditation for five years following an interim evaluation conducted by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YOKAK).

Erzurum Technical University was evaluated within the scope of the Institutional Accreditation Program carried out by YOKAK as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen quality assurance in higher education. Following the evaluation, the University was granted full accreditation for a period of five years.

Under the Institutional Accreditation Program conducted by YOKAK, higher education institutions are evaluated through a holistic approach covering quality assurance and management systems, education and teaching, research and development, and societal contribution activities.

During the evaluation process at ETU, the University's quality assurance mechanisms, educational activities, research capacity, societal contribution initiatives, governance processes, and continuous improvement practices were examined.

As part of the site visit conducted by the YOKAK Evaluation Team, meetings were held with the University administration, academic and administrative staff, students, and internal and external stakeholders. The University's quality assurance practices and institutional processes were also evaluated on site.

ETU had previously been accredited for a two-year period, from April 22, 2024, to July 31, 2026, under the YOKAK Institutional Accreditation Program. Following this two-year accreditation period, the University's progress in quality assurance was reassessed through an interim evaluation process, resulting in the decision to grant ETU full accreditation for five years, valid until July 7, 2029.

Rector Cakmak: "We Integrate a Culture of Quality into All Institutional Processes"

Commenting on YOKAK's decision to grant ETU full accreditation for five years, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak stated that the decision represents an important indicator of the University's efforts and progress in the field of quality assurance.

Cakmak noted that since taking office, the University has adopted a quality-oriented approach to institutional development and has consistently pursued continuous improvement across education and teaching, research and development, societal contribution, and governance processes.

Emphasizing that the YOKAK evaluation has helped the University identify both its strengths and areas for further improvement, Cakmak said:

"The decision to grant five-year full accreditation is an important outcome of our quality assurance system and the work we have carried out in this field. We regard this achievement not merely as the result of an accreditation process, but as recognition of our efforts to embed a culture of quality throughout all processes at our University."

Cakmak emphasized that this achievement was made possible through the contributions of academic and administrative staff, students, and all University stakeholders. He added that ETU will continue to enhance its quality standards, improve the quality of its education and research activities, and pursue initiatives that contribute to society in the coming period.
