The Rector of Erzurum Technical University (ETU), Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, hosted members
of the press at an event held for the athletes who won 35 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze
medals in the Universities League organised by the Türkiye University Sports Federation
during the 2024–2025 season, making ETU the Turkish champion.
The programme held in the VIP Lounge of the Life Centre was attended by members of the
press, as well as academic and administrative staff, athletes and students.
Speaking at the opening of the programme, Prof. Dr. Çakmak emphasised that ETU's success
was the result of multifaceted efforts. Today, we are gathered here to share a moment of
pride for our university. Becoming the Türkiye champion in the overall medal standings
among 182 universities in the 2024–2025 season is not just a sporting achievement; it is also
a powerful demonstration of determination, discipline, perseverance and our institutional
vision. This success is the result of the tremendous effort, belief and willpower of the
Erzurum Technical University family, all working together towards high goals. The
championship title is a concrete reflection of the struggle of our athletes on the field, the
dedication of our coaches, the guidance of our academics and the coordinated work of our
administrative staff. I wholeheartedly congratulate each of our students and all our staff
who contributed to this process.
Continuing his speech, Rector Çakmak expressed his belief that this championship victory
would open the door to new successes. Today's championship is, of course, a result;
however, we see it not as an end, but as a sign of new beginnings. We are continuing our
work with the same determination to advance further in all areas of sport, achieve greater
successes and open up broader horizons for our young people. We believe that Erzurum
Technical University will continue to be one of Turkiye's leading institutions in science, art,
culture, and sport. I would also like to thank you, our valued members of the press, who
follow us closely and convey our successes to the public objectively and accurately. It is
thanks to your dedicated work that the values produced by universities can be shared with
society.
Following his speech, Rector Çakmak gave a comprehensive presentation on ETU's education
and training activities, work and social contribution projects, providing the press with
detailed information about the momentum the University has gained in recent years, its
national and international achievements, and its goals for the new term.
