The overall medal rankings for the 2024-2025 Interuniversity Sports Competitions organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TuSF) have been announced. Erzurum Technical University (ETU) achieved great success, placing first in the overall rankings.
Competing in a total of 22 branches, ETU displayed a remarkable performance throughout the season with its 199-person team, consisting of 126 men and 73 women. The athletes earned 35 gold, 17 silver, and 24 bronze medals throughout the season, leaving all universities behind and taking the top spot.
Following the announcement of the results, the awards ceremony was held at Hacı Bayram Veli University's Itri Congress Center. Attendees included ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak and his entourage, as well as President of the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) Prof. Dr. Mutlu Turkmen, General Manager of Sports Services Prof. Dr. Veli Ozan Cakır, Secretary General of the Council of Higher Education (YOK) Batıkan Aksoy, and other guests.
Receiving the award from TUSF President Prof. Dr. Mutlu Turkmen, Rector Cakmak stated that the first-place finish was no coincidence, saying, “At ETU, we view athletic success as crucial as academic development as a crucial part of our institutional vision. This year's first-place finish in Turkey was achieved thanks to the efforts of our students and the dedicated work of our instructors and coaches. Competing with such a broad participation in 22 branches and reaching the top of the podium is a concrete demonstration of the value ETU places on sports. The simultaneous rise of academic studies, athletic activities, and institutional achievements is a great source of motivation for us. I thank all our athletes who proudly represent our university at the national level, the instructors who guide them, and everyone who contributed. As ETU, we will continue to support sports, stand with our young people, and ensure the sustainability of our success.”
