Athletes from Erzurum Technical University (ETU) achieved great success by winning 21
medals at the UNILIG Turkish Wrestling Championship organized by the Turkish University
Sports Federation (TUSF).
The championship was hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University between March 28
and April 1, 2026, with the participation of 619 athletes from 63 universities. A total of 528
male and 91 female athletes competed in the event.
ETU athletes made a strong impression with their achievements in the Greco-Roman B,
Women’s Freestyle, and Freestyle A categories. The university became the Turkish champion
in both the Greco-Roman B and Freestyle A team categories, returning to Erzurum with a
total of 11 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

Beyza Nur Akkuş (65 kg), Abdullah Toprak (70 kg), Alperen Atar (86 kg), Murat Sezmiş (92
kg), Emirhan Kılıç (97 kg)
Silver Medalists:
Halil Ibrahim Uzun (57 kg), Cihat Dur (74 kg), Adil Mısırcı (125 kg)
Bronze Medalists:
Muhammed Kavi (55 kg), Yusuf Şancı (60 kg), Yusuf Kulalı (63 kg), Berat Ertürk (87 kg),
Ömer Faruk Karadeniz (97 kg), Yusuf Tümer (65 kg), Yasin Uzun (79 kg)
Following the competitions, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak congratulated the team,
emphasizing that this achievement is the result of long-term effort and disciplined work. He
stated:
“The success of our athletes, who have proudly represented our university at the national
level, has brought us great pride. I sincerely congratulate our athletes and coaching staff, who
almost left no medals behind in the tournament, and wish them continued success.”
