A cooperation protocol was signed between Erzurum Technical University (ETU) and Erzurum Provincial Directorate of National Education for children affected by the earthquake disaster.
The signing ceremony held at the Rectorate Meeting Hall was attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak and Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz as well as Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı and Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Secretary General Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu and MUCITPARK Science and Idea Workshop Coordinator Inst. See. Ali Necip Nursoy attended.
As a result of the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023, within the scope of the protocol, the 2-7th grade students who came to Erzurum and continued their education life. It is aimed to provide education to students in the middle class at MUCITPARK Science and Idea Workshop, one of the innovation centers of ETU.
Until the end of the term, earthquake survivors in Erzurum Provincial National Education will have the chance to observe and practice by taking lessons from ETU Science and Idea Community students in robotic coding, virtual reality, woodworking and 3D modeling workshops, 2 days a week in groups of 24.
Rector Bülent Çakmak, who made an evaluation on the protocol, stated that the children affected by the earthquake and hosted in Erzurum can learn while having fun: “We will host our children at our university in order to provide some benefit and increase their scientific awareness. In these days when we continue to heal our wounds as a country, I would like to thank our ETU Science and Idea Community students who will voluntarily become trainers for the realization of such an important cooperation, and I wish the protocol to be beneficial.”
Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz stated that he believed the protocol would be extremely beneficial for children affected by the earthquake and thanked Rector Çakmak and his team for their hospitality and collaborative attitude.
