Erzurum Technical University (ETU) left its mark on the Inter-University Kickboxing Turkiye Championship organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation by winning 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Competing in the Kick Light category of the Interuniversity Kickboxing Turkey Championship held at Balikesir University Burhan Erdayi Sports Hall on April 9-11, Emirhan Calisir won the gold medal in the 63 kg and Muhammet Enes Yanmaz won the gold medal in the 79 kg category, while Can Ahmet Baglar, who entered the ring in the Point Fighting category in the same championship, defeated all of his opponents in the 63 kg and Furkan Dasdemir in the Full Contact category in the 91 kg category and won the gold medal. On the other hand, Cafer Rzayev won the silver medal for ETU in the 57 kg category.
In the women's Point Fighting category, Rabia Bilesikci in the 50 kg and Fatma Zehra Demir in the 65 kg came in third and won the bronze medals, respectively.
Congratulating the athletes and technical team after the competitions, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak said: “Kickboxing is one of the branches we are most ambitious in. Our athletes achieved great success by completing the championship with a total of 7 medals, 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. On this occasion, I congratulate our athletes and technical team and wish them continued success.”
