A cooperation protocol was signed between Erzurum Technical University (ETU) and the Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV) to implement joint projects aimed at supporting children battling leukemia and their families.
The protocol, prepared to increase social awareness, was signed during a ceremony held at the Rectorate Meeting Hall. The initiative was spearheaded by the ETU LÖSEV Benefit Society (ETÜ LÖSEV Fayda Topluluğu). The signing ceremony was attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Coordinator of Social Contribution and Equality Policies Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Başkan, LÖSEV Benefit Project Assistant Coordinator Selma Dursun, Academic Advisor of the ETU LÖSEV Benefit Society Asst. Prof. Dr. Onur Çamlı, LÖSEV Erzurum Provincial Representative Kürşat Güner, Erzurum Social Service Staff Feyza Öztürk, and ETU LÖSEV Benefit Society Club President Rabia Uguz.
Under the scope of the signed protocol, the partnership aims to:
· Encourage more active participation of ETU students in volunteer activities.
· Increase social support efforts for children with leukemia and their families.
· Implement joint awareness-focused projects within the university.
Evaluating the cooperation, Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak emphasized the importance of collaborations between universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in strengthening social solidarity. He stated that developing sensitivity to social issues and reinforcing a sense of social responsibility are among the fundamental duties of higher education institutions. Rector Çakmak added that this partnership with LÖSEV will contribute to the development of a volunteering culture among students and lay the groundwork for significant projects for the benefit of society.
