A cooperation protocol was signed between Erzurum Technical University (ETU) and the Erzurum Provincial Directorate of National Education within the scope of the "Writing the History of Erzurum High School Project," which aims to research and document the long history of Erzurum High School using scientific methods.
The signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol, which aims to transfer the historical heritage of Erzurum High School to future generations through the preparation of books and albums, was held in the ETU Rectorate Meeting Hall. The ceremony was attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, Erzurum Provincial Director of National Education Suleyman Ekici, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmali and Prof. Dr. Naim Urkmez, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, Faculty of Literature History Department Lecturer Prof. Dr. Murat Kucukugurlu, and Erzurum High School Principal Omer Coskun.
Within the scope of the protocol, the historical development of Erzurum High School from its establishment to the present day will be examined through archival documents, oral history studies, and academic research. The information and documents obtained will be evaluated within the framework of academic criteria and compiled into a book and album.
In line with this collaboration, ETU will provide academic consultancy services within the project; it will conduct the research, source review, data collection, analysis, and writing processes using scientific methods. Furthermore, the draft texts will undergo academic peer review to ensure the scientific quality of the work.
The Erzurum Provincial Directorate of National Education will provide the necessary institutional coordination within the project, and will support access to the Erzurum High School archives and school records. The Directorate will contribute to the communication processes with alumni, retired teachers, and individuals connected to the school, and will also provide institutional support in the promotion of the project and the printing and distribution processes of the published works.
The project will be coordinated by a joint executive board consisting of ETU Faculty of Letters faculty members Prof. Dr. Naim Urkmez, Prof. Dr. Murat Kucukugurlu, and Prof. Dr. Ugur Akbulut, along with administrators and teachers from Erzurum High School.
The aim of the book and album to be prepared is to document the long history of Erzurum High School in light of scientific data, as well as to be among the lasting works contributing to the field of educational history. Following the approval of the parties involved, the completed works will be shared with the public in print and digital formats.
