ETU Officially Commences European Union-Supported Artificial Intelligence Project

The Erasmus+ KA220-HED project “FOSSBot4AI”, initiated by Erzurum Technical University (ETU) and aiming to popularize artificial intelligence education among higher education students through open-source and open-design educational robots, officially launched with an opening meeting held in France.

The meeting, hosted by ECAM-EPMI in Cergy, France, was attended by project partners from Turkey, France, Poland, Greece, and the Netherlands.   Representing ETU at the meeting were the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Daştan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emirhan Kula, and Lecturer Ali Necip Nursoy.

During the meeting, a comprehensive evaluation was conducted regarding the technical specifications of the FOSSBot:v2 educational robot, the structure of the virtual simulators, and the artificial intelligence training curriculum to be developed, within the scope of the project, by outlining a 30-month roadmap.

The ETU delegation gave presentations on the "Validation" and "Pilot Application" processes, which are among their critical responsibilities in the project, and provided information about the work to be carried out.

Sharing details about the project, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Daştan stated that they aim to create a new technology-focused education vision, saying: “The robots and artificial intelligence training modules to be developed within the scope of the project will be directly experienced by students in pilot classrooms to be established within ETU. Thus, our students will have the opportunity to receive practical training in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotic coding. This process will enable our students to not only be content with theoretical knowledge but also to test technologies developed to international standards and produce solutions for the real world. In addition, it will significantly accelerate our university's digital transformation vision and contribute to the acquisition of stronger competencies for the professions of the future.”
