ETU Shooting Team Wins Championship with a New Turkish Record

The Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Sports Club Shooting Team became champions by breaking the Turkish record at the Murat Yilmaz Air Weapons Federation Cup held in Mersin.

The Murat Yilmaz Air Weapons Federation Cup, held between January 17-23 at the Yusuf Dikec – Sevval Ilayda Tarhan Shooting Range in Mersin, witnessed the ETU Sports Club Shooting Team's remarkable success in the Junior Women's category. The team, composed of first-year students from the Faculty of Sport Sciences Coaching Department, Elif Eda Cinar and Elif Gulcan Doludizgin, along with third-year student Rana Gozubuyuk from the Physical Education and Sports Department, achieved a total score of 1859.2 points, setting a new Turkish record.

Individually, Elif Eda Cinar won the silver medal with a score of 624.1 points, while Elif Gulcan Doludizgin claimed the bronze medal with 621.7 points. Rana Gozubuyuk secured the fourth position in Turkey with a score of 620.9 points.

As a result of their outstanding achievements, the three ETU athletes earned the right to represent the National Team at the European Championship to be held in Croatia from March 1-7.

Congratulating the Shooting Team after the competitions, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak expressed his pride: “We are delighted that our shooting team has become champions by breaking the Turkish record. We are experiencing the same pride we felt in previous years with our record-breaking student Damla, now with Eda, Gulcan, and Rana. I once again congratulate our athletes and their coach Burak Caglar, and I wish them success in the European Championship.”
