Erzurum Technical University (ETU) participated in the NAFSA 2025 Annual Conference & Expo, which was held in San Diego, United States, between 27-30 May 2025 and is considered one of the largest international education events in the world.
NAFSA 2025, held this year with the theme of “Purpose, Place and Partnership”, brought together representatives of higher education institutions and international educational organizations from over 100 countries and many scientists, creating an important platform for academic collaborations on a global scale.
ETU was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim and Foreign Relations Office Coordinator Prof. Dr. Eyüphan Manay at the fair where various panels and networking events were held.
Meeting with representatives of many universities and international organizations from America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East during the fair, Rector Çakmak and his delegation evaluated cooperation opportunities in student and academic staff mobility, exchange programs and joint research projects.
Rector Çakmak, who made statements about the fair, stated that NAFSA 2025 offers an important opportunity to increase ETÜ’s visibility in the international arena and to strengthen global collaborations, and said: “As Erzurum Technical University, we see internationalization as an important part of our higher education vision. In this context, participating in a major organization such as NAFSA 2025, which brings together universities and educational institutions from many countries of the world, has been very valuable for us in terms of both developing new collaborations and increasing the recognition of our university. During the event, we came together with higher education representatives from different countries and had productive discussions about student and academic staff mobility, exchange programs and joint project opportunities. I believe that these contacts will strengthen the international connections of our university in the future. It is of great importance to us that our students can develop themselves in international environments by getting to know different cultures and that our academic staff can benefit from global collaboration opportunities. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Turkish National Agency for providing us with this opportunity.”
