Erzurum Technical University (ETU) athletes dominated the heavyweight category at the Türkiye Boxing Championship organised by the Türkiye University Sports Federation (UNILIG).

Hosted by Bayburt University, the championship saw 170 athletes from 43 universities compete in the ring. Competing in the +80 kg category, Şeyma Düztaş, a second-year student in the Coaching Education Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, defeated all her opponents to win the gold medal. Emir Büyükdağ, a graduate student in the Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Institute of Health Sciences, who competed in the +90 kg category, also defeated all his opponents and brought the gold medal to Erzurum.

Speaking upon returning from the championship, ETU Boxing Team Coach and national athlete Furkan Öget stated that ETU's tradition of boxing championships continues: "Our athletes Şeyma and Emir winning gold medals in the heavyweight category is a result of their determination and disciplined work. These achievements serve as an inspiration for all our up-and-coming athletes and motivate them to pursue even greater goals. It is a great pleasure for us to see our university's name associated with a gold medal once again."
