According to the results of the “University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2025” published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Erzurum Technical University (ETU) ranked among the leading universities in terms of student satisfaction, research quality, and academic productivity indicators.
Prepared by YÖK with the aim of monitoring the development of the higher education system through evidence-based and transparent indicators, the University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report was restructured this year based on a science communication approach. Within the scope of joint work carried out with the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), the report was prepared using data collected centrally from universities. Rather than comparing universities with one another, the report focuses on monitoring and evaluating each institution’s individual development trajectory.
The report also includes the results of the Türkiye University Experience Survey (TÜDA), which was implemented for the first time by the Council of Higher Education in 2024, incorporating students’ expectations and satisfaction levels into the evaluation process. Structured under the headings of “Education and Training,” “Research and Development, Projects and Publications,” “Internationalization,” “Sustainability,” and “Community Service and Social Responsibility,” the report was strengthened with new indicators prioritizing contemporary higher education approaches such as accessibility, inclusiveness, and sustainability.
Within this framework, Erzurum Technical University (ETU) achieved remarkable results in student satisfaction indicators. According to the 2024 TÜDA data, ETU ranked first nationwide with a satisfaction rate of 80.86% regarding library services.
Indicators related to research and academic publication performance also revealed ETU’s steady development. In terms of the number of publications per faculty member published in journals indexed by TR Dizin, ETU ranked 7th nationwide. Regarding the ratio of publications produced through university–industry collaboration to total publications, ETU ranked 19th in 2024 and rose five places to 14th in the 2025 report. Additionally, ETU ranked 16th with a citation rate of 84.1% for publications indexed in Web of Science. The report also noted that ETU continued its stable growth in the indicator related to the number of utilized TÜBİTAK scholarships.
Commenting on the results, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak stated that the university’s upward momentum continues and said:
“The main goal of our university is to continuously improve the quality of education and training, strengthen research capacity, and maximize our students’ development throughout their educational journey. The results obtained in the report clearly demonstrate ETU’s steady progress toward these goals as a result of our meticulous efforts and determined steps carried out over the years. I sincerely believe that our university’s upward trend will continue in the coming years, and I would like to express my gratitude to all our academic and administrative staff who have contributed to this process.”
