Erzurum Technical University (ETU) continues to make a name for itself with its innovative work in the fields of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. In this context, two research teams from ETU have achieved significant success and earned the right to be finalists in the Teknofest 2024 Biotechnology Innovation Competition.
Founded in 2022 by Seymanur Cobanoglu and Erdem Erkengez, the Turch and Tech Team conducts innovative research in areas such as antibiotic resistance, biofilms, protein engineering, and recombinant DNA technology. Team captain Seymanur Cobanoglu drew attention with the support she received in 2020 under TUBITAK 2210-C Biotechnological Drug Technologies priority area and won the TUBITAK BIDEB 2211-E PhD scholarship in 2022. Erdem Erkengez was supported by the TUBITAK 2247-C STAR Program in 2023 and by the TUBITAK 2210 Domestic Master’s Scholarship Program in 2024. The Turch and Tech Team succeeded in becoming a finalist in the University and Above Idea category at the Teknofest 2024 Biotechnology Innovation Competition.
Founded in 2021 by Simay Aldag, Guler Tuba Bugdacı, and Ruhane Tosunoglu, the ETU Technology MicTech Team works on antibiotic resistance, biofilms, probiotic yeasts, and antibiofilm peptides. Simay Aldag and Guler Tuba Bugdacı, who developed their projects with the support of the TUBITAK 2209-A project in 2021, are being supported by the TUBITAK 2210-C Domestic Priority Areas Master's Scholarship Program in 2024. The MicTech Team achieved the success of becoming a finalist in the University and Above Project category at Teknofest 2024.
