Erzurum Technical University (ETU) achieved a significant success by ranking second across
Turkey in the 2026 evaluations conducted under the "Sports-Friendly Campus" program run
by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
At the award ceremony held at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, the certificate was
presented to ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak on behalf of the university. Under the
program, which aims to make sports an integral part of campus life, universities were
evaluated based on a total of 45 criteria, including:
Sports vision and corporate strategy,
Sports infrastructure and facility safety,
The activity of student clubs,
Efforts to combat addiction,
Accessibility practices for individuals with disabilities,
Activities aimed at preserving traditional sports.
Drawing attention with its student-oriented sports policies, strong sports infrastructure, and
national and international sporting achievements, ETU has once again consolidated its place
among the exemplary higher education institutions that support a healthy living culture and
encourage their students to engage in sports.
Rector Çakmak: "We Aim to Create a Campus Culture Where Sports is a
Way of Life"
Making evaluations on the subject, Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak stated that as a university,
they care about the physical, social, and psychological development of their students in
addition to their academic growth, and noted:
"We are working with determination to create a campus culture where sports becomes a way
of life. I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff, students, and
stakeholders who contributed to this success."
