Erzurum Technical University Institute of Social Sciences was established as one of the three institutes constituting the University in accordance with the 131st Additional Article of the Law No. 6005 on the Amendment of the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and Some Laws and Decree Laws published in the Official Gazette dated 21.07.2010 and numbered 27648.

Following its establishment, our institute started education at the master's and doctorate level with thesis in the Department of Economics in 2012-2013 academic year, in the Department of History in 2013-2014 academic year and in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in 2014-2015 academic year. As of 2019, the Institute of Social Sciences continues its activities with 5 master's programs with thesis and 1 doctorate program in total with the master's programs of the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Philosophy in 2020.
