Philosophy is one of the basic ways to understand and make sense of society, the world, life and being, especially the human being itself. Philosophy is an activity of thinking, action. Philosophy is not a finished thing, it is a process. In this process, one tries to confront the truth step by step. Philosophy, like a mystery hunter who seeks a treasure lost in a vast ocean, allows man to permeate and confront the secret of life and being himself. Philosophy is the love of wisdom. A bottomless well, hoping that the thirst for knowledge can be met, is the quest for truth. At the same time philosophy is the question of the world, life and being. The aim of the philosophy program; grasp philosophical thought, good, truth, beauty and the place and meaning of human in the world, produce philosophical, scientific, artistic and technical knowledge, bring solutions to problems related to daily life, conduct qualified researches in the field, follow national and international developments in philosophical and intellectual fields. to train researchers who are ready for learning, adopting lifelong learning and teaching as a principle, preserving cultural heritage, competitive and environmentally sensitive researchers.

Our Objectives

Objectives of the Philosophy program; grasp philosophical thought, good, truth, beauty and the place and meaning of human in the world, produce philosophical, scientific, artistic and technical knowledge, bring solutions to problems related to daily life, conduct qualified researches in the field, follow national and international developments in philosophical and intellectual fields. to train researchers who are ready for learning, adopting lifelong learning and teaching as a principle, preserving cultural heritage, competitive and environmentally sensitive researchers.

Our Goals

1. To train qualified philosophers / researchers who have learned and reinforced the tools, materials and resources of the modern, rational, forward-looking, productive and modern world as it is today.
2. To make researches and investigations in contemporary world norms and to present their results to the service of individuals, institutions and society.
3. To produce intellectual and social projects by collaborating with universities both at home and abroad and on different subjects.
4. To carry out activities to ensure that students take part in various scientific, social and sporting activities not only as spectators but also as participants.
5. Initiating the necessary studies to eliminate the shortage of academic staff and increase the quality of existing ones.
6.  To make the department a dynamic center of thought with the instructors and students.

Social and Cultural Activities

Our Philosophy Department organizes conference, seminar and panel activities on different subjects by inviting experts from different universities and institutions in each academic year and through the own resources of our university. In addition, students can benefit from different social, cultural and sporting activities organized by our university. In addition, since Erzurum is a winter sports center, there are opportunities for social and sportive activities in different branches related to winter sports.

Job opportunities

Graduates of our program are given Lisans Bachelor of Philosophy Diploma ”and” Philosopher ”title.

Philosophy graduates have a wide range of fields of study, as philosophy offers a wide range of action in the light of their own interests and orientations. They have the opportunity to work with different staff titles in education and culture related units of ministries, especially Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Culture, education, culture, human relations, planning, evaluation and advertising units of TRT and other broadcasting and public institutions and private organizations. If they receive a Teacher Training Form, they can be appointed as a Philosophy Teacher, a Philosophy Group Teacher, or a Vocational Courses Teacher at Teacher High Schools, especially in the Ministry of National Education and private schools. On the other hand, they can find jobs in press and media organs in different units, especially as editors. In addition, there are opportunities to work as a consultant in private institutions and organizations. In addition to these, there are opportunities to work on different disciplines of philosophy or as an academician in many disciplines of universities such as Literature, Science and Literature, Economic and Administrative Sciences, Law, Communication and Fine Arts.
