"conference was held in ETU at Faculty of Letters Conference Hall to raise an awareness of the society within the scope of Autism Awareness month. Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Disease Specialist Dr. Yüksel Sümeyra KARAGÖZ from Regional Training and Research Hospital participated as a speaker to the conference. Dr. Yüksel Sümeyra KARAGÖZ emphasized that Autism spectrum disorder is a complex neuro-developmental difference arising from inborn or appearing in the early life stages of the child and listed the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorders as follows:

Not having eye contact with others, not looking when you call his/her name, behaving as if he/she does not hear, not showing what he wants with his finger, not knowing how to play with toys, not showing interest to the games that her/his peers play, repeating some words in unrelated settings and experiencing tension in his/her speech.

Head of Psychology Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Büşra ASLAN presented a plaque to Specialist. Dr. Yüksel Sümeyra KARAGÖZ at the end of the conference.
