A Message from President Bülent Çakmak on 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Memorial Day

The President of Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak published a message on the occasion of March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Memorial Day. President Bülent Çakmak included the following statements in his message;

Çanakkale Wars, defined as the beginning of modern war history, is an event that affected humanity in many ways. As a matter of fact, the name of the geography that gathers the white and black people, the exploiters and the exploited in a single target, from England to India and New Zealand, from France to Senegal is Çanakkale… The place where existence and absence, technique and belief, cross and crescent collide, and armoured warships such as Irresistible, Bouvet and Ocean are helpless against the belief of Seyit Onbaşıs is Çanakkale… Çanakkale is the war that shows that the Turkish Nation, which stands hale and hearty with all its historical memory in the bosom of the Ottoman Empire, defined by the Westerners as the "sick man", preserves its existence… Çanakkale is the point in which the Independent Turkey laid its seeds, the staff of founders led by Mustafa Kemal appeared on the stage of history…

I remember with gratitude our martyrs and veterans who made these lands their homeland with the feelings in the lines of Mehmet Akif, "Even if I bandaged you with the west becoming like a net in the evening / I can't say, though, that to your memory I could do anything", I celebrate the 106th Anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory on March 18, 1915.
