"1st National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress" was Held. (19.04.2024)

"1st National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress" was held hosted by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of our faculty.

ETÜ Rector Prof. attended the opening of the 1st National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress, which was organized for the first time in order to talk about the current developments in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics and to bring together academicians and students from all regions of Turkey. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Fatih Yetim, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, academicians and many students attended. 

Speaking at the opening of the program, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Prof. Dr. Adem Kara stated that molecular biology and genetics have an important role in modern science and that the congress will make significant contributions to the career development of students.

Prof. Dr. Speaking after Kara, our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Ümit İncekara pointed out that the quality of education provided in our faculty is well above average and stated that they have made significant progress in a short time and have implemented many innovative practices.

Our University Rector Çakmak said that they attach great importance to student congresses and said: “Dear friends, your participation in these and similar organizations will provide you with very important gains in the future. Your participation in programs such as congresses, symposiums and workshops also means that you attach great importance to the culture of collaboration. As a matter of fact, your participation in these and similar programs, as well as your success in classes, will be your reference as you step into business life. Throughout your education life, you will always be asked what you have done to improve yourself. As ETÜ, we started a tradition by holding the first National Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress. I believe that this congress will continue in the coming years. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students and professors who contributed to the organization of our congress and wish them success," he said.

At the congress, attended by nearly 400 students from 13 universities across Turkey, many posters and oral presentations were made, and the topics of Boron in Plant and Human Studies, Detection of Target Molecules in Neurodegenerative Diseases, Protein Engineering and Cancer Studies, and Synthesis of Candidate Inhibitors were discussed.
